Last year saw the completion of the crossing in Oxford Circus, plans for a redevelopment have been revealed at a cost of £14million and approved by Westminster Council. The redevelopment will aim to remove the railings at the junction to make it more pedestrian friendly. The controlled crossing at St Jame’s Square/Pall Mall will be replaced with a zebra crossing and two-way streets along Piccadilly, St James’s Street and Pall Mall. The development should also benefit the Olympics and Paralympics. Work should start in November and take a couple of months.
